Typically, the main benefit of joining a class action lawsuit is that if you are a member of an affected class, it is much more effective. It is much more efficient and is much more economical to join the class action lawsuit and have the litigation proceed through the class than try to litigate the issue directly yourself. Taking it on individually is going to add more time and more expense. Whereas going through the class will take time but the cost savings are going to be immediate and the involvement on your end is going to be limited. Meaning that there is less that you need to do as an individual while still being able to benefit from any eventual compensation.
