A particularly memorable case that I worked on was a situation where an employer was preventing an employee from receiving their stock options in accordance with the stock option plan. The employee had tried on numerous occasions to have the employer pay without success. We reached out to the company with a legal argument for why that employee was entitled to those shares. And ultimately, through that letter only, we were able to convince the company that he was entitled to those shares and he was able to get those shares paid out. The interesting part about that case was two years later, I got a call from that employer’s counsel who started referring me to files because he thought at that point, they were totally right in their interpretation of the contract. Until they received that letter where they realized that there were issues with the way that their contracts were drafted.
