So, according to the Alberta Limitations Act, you have 2 years to file a personal injury lawsuit in Alberta, and that’s from the date of the accident. Although this rule applies to a vast majority of cases, there are some exceptions, and that’s primarily for minors. If you are an injured person and you’re under 18 years of age at the time of the accident, you do have 2 years from the date of you turning 18 in order to file a lawsuit.
